What is Inflammation & How does it affect us?
Did you know that inflammatory triggers are abundant in our modern society? Food, pollution, and that daily lingering stress all count as potential sources of inflammation in the body. Whether in the past, present or future everyone will experience some sort of inflammation in their lifetime. So you might be thinking, why does it matter? If something’s inflamed.. it will eventually become un-inflamed, right?
1. We like the way you’re thinking but no ;)
2. Inflammation is a real mood killer--when you don't feel you're best it's hard to be happy.
3. Recent research shows that inflammation actually travels to the brain and deeply affects cognitive function.
4. If inflammation is chronic, it often leads to diseases like autoimmune disease, heart disease, Crohn's disease, and cancer just to name a few.
This means that even infrequent inflammation can bring the sweet gifts of body pain and..drumroll, please.. BRAIN FOG. Who has time for brain fog these days? Hard pass! And if you’re dealing with frequent pain, gut issues, or brain fog, it’s important to address it like you would any other illness and seek out the advice of your healer of choice--whether that is a medical professional, a herbalist, an acupuncturist, etc... If you’re currently dealing with inflammation or are trying to be proactive in avoiding it, there are plenty of things you can do to reduce it or prevent it. It may come as no surprise that two of the most effective ways of calming or fending off inflammation are ingestible herbs such as adaptogenic herbs + full-spectrum hemp (aka CBD)!
Now how exactly do these magical plants work to help fight inflammation? CBD works directly with your endocannabinoid system to drive down inflammation by interacting with our internal endocannabinoid receptors. When the CB1 and CB2 receptors in our body receive cannabis cannabinoids, it sends a signal to specific cells to release less inflammatory cytokines (a process that initiates the inflammatory response in the body) And beyond CBD, CBDa is very effective for addressing inflammation. (Found in our Good Day tincture.)
We’ve said it before but with adaptogenic supplements, it’s all in the name! You can count on these powerful plants to help your body defend itself against all kinds of stressors. Adaptogens aim to regulate the release of the hormone cortisol by rapidly responding to present stress in the body. We like to think of them as a plant-powered shield! The magical powers of adaptogenic supplements can be found in both our Good Day and Good Night formulas.
Facts are facts, life is wild and there are so many things that we can’t control. We turn to the gifts that nature has given us to better equip ourselves for whatever the day may bring. And that’s how (and why) Prismatic Plants was born! We suggest pairing our tinctures with other anti-inflammatory habits like yoga, meditation, deep breathing outdoors, or drinking an (occasional) glass of red wine. Yes, you read that right. Avoiding inflammation can be FUN.
Now go and tell your friends the good news.
